Provides daily supportive and functional care to residents in a compassionate environment according to established community care procedures as directed by nursing leadership. Works as a collaborative member of an interdisciplinary team that focuses on the resident as the director of their own care. Responsibilities include maintaining residents’ comfort; providing physical care with activities of daily living according to scope of practice; answering resident’s call lights and requests; reporting observations of residents to the nurse; handling residents’ personal care needs and support in a timely manner; helping maintain residents’ dignity by letting them do as much for themselves as possible; observing residents closely to identify changing needs and conditions and reporting information to the nurse; actively participating in residents’ care/service plans for the purpose of improving residents’ lives; assisting residents during mealtimes and feeding residents who need full assistance; creating and maintaining meaningful relationships with residents and their families; providing support with compassion and professionalism; supporting residents’ involvement in decision making regarding their own daily activities; assisting residents with activities; assisting with residents’ therapies and treatments under the direction of licensed staff; documenting care provided in clinical records; maintaining a clean and safe environment. Qualifications include current CNA certification for Missouri and Illinois, and enrollment or eligibility for enrollment within 120 days in Pennsylvania nurse aide registry. Must be able to communicate with residents and prior experience with direct patient/resident care is preferable. Physical requirements include ability to stand, walk, use hands, talk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, lift up to 50 lbs, and push/pull 45 lbs. Working conditions include exposure to emotionally upset residents or family members, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, infectious waste, diseases including AIDS and Hepatitis B virus within guidelines of standard precautions.
