:The Coder CHP oversees all coding reviews and corporate compliance audits at Cox HealthPlans. This position interprets and analyzes medical records to ensure billing accuracies. Reviews coding on healthcare claims in order to reimburse from the health plan to the billing provider. The Coder CHP aids in coordinating and resolving coding issues with all internal CHP departments and Providers. Oversees the coding training throughout Cox HealthPlans.Education: ▪ Required: High school or Equivalent Preferred; College course-work in Health Information Management or Technology. Experience: ▪ Preferred: 3 years experience with hospital coding. Skills: ▪ Detailed knowledge of coding guidelines and the ability to apply coding guidelines when reviewing documentation in the medical record. ▪ Must have experience with detailed knowledge of the format, functions, and use of the medical record. ▪ Detailed knowledge of DRG’s and APC’s. ▪ Ability to perform computer data entry. ▪ Ability to work with others and communicate effectively. ▪ Experience with encoders and other coding software preferred. ▪ Excellent problem solving skills. ▪ High degree of intelligence and concentration abilities. ▪ Performs complex tasks requiring independent knowledge and its application in non-routine situations.
