Director of Operational Risk Management
Join our dynamic team as the Director of Operational Risk Management, where you will lead the Risk Analytical Solutions (RAS) function. This role is essential for delivering insightful reporting and analyses that will enhance our operational risk program. You will play a pivotal role in integrating our Discover Operational Risk reporting capabilities while developing a forward-thinking vision for RAS in collaboration with Risk Product Management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Formulate and implement business strategies that promote growth, profitability, and competitiveness, addressing changing consumer and regulatory environments.
Team Leadership: Manage and nurture multiple teams while integrating those supporting Discover Operational Risk reporting. Focus on coaching and mentoring to cultivate and retain talent.
Product Development: Collaborate with the product management function to create and launch innovative products.
Execution: Oversee the delivery of business initiatives, establish business requirements, and implement the product strategy. Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Collaboration: Partner effectively with fellow leaders across Capital One, including Tech, Product, and Finance, to enhance our reporting and analytical capabilities in Operational Risk.
Analytical Thinking: Leverage robust decision-making and problem-solving skills grounded in analytics while exhibiting strong quantitative abilities.
Business Judgment: Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and integrity, displaying a determined yet responsible decision-making approach.
People Management: Build and utilize the strengths of a high-performing team and foster strong relationships with business partners, promoting innovation and accountability.
Communication Skills: Exhibit exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, utilizing strategic influencing techniques to achieve consensus.
Goal-Oriented: Maintain a strong focus on achieving both short-term and long-term objectives, driving an agenda in a dynamic environment.
Adaptability: Proven success in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting. Experience in consulting is a plus.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field such as Business, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Engineering.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in analytical roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree.
Over 2 years of experience in financial services.
At least 1 year of experience in consulting.
Over 3 years of experience in managing teams.
This position is located in McLean, VA, offering a salary range of $226,000 - $257,900, and in Richmond, VA, with a range of $205,400 - $234,400. We provide a comprehensive benefits package supporting your well-being.
