The Facility Operator Program (FOP) is an entry-level, full-time, on-site role located in Lorton, VA, consisting of 12 to 16 weeks of classroom, online, and on-the-job training. The first 6 weeks are in-classroom training at Alexandria, VA, followed by on-the-job training at the home site. Upon completion, participants are prepared to step into an Auxiliary Operator position at the Waste to Energy Facility in Lorton, VA, with potential relocation opportunities within the South region. The program includes varied learning methods such as classroom instruction, computer-based training, and hands-on training under supervision. Responsibilities include operating and inspecting power plant systems, supporting plant operations and maintenance, participating in critical asset operations, and contributing to operational improvements using lean principles and problem-solving tools. The role requires working rotating shifts, operating power hand tools, working at heights and confined spaces, and wearing a full-face respirator. Physical requirements include walking, standing, sitting, climbing, lifting/carrying 50 lbs, and working in various weather conditions. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, with prior experience in high-pressure boilers or electric generating equipment considered a plus.
